There are several types of treasure, each with different uses:
Chalices, Banners, Obelisks, and Other Sparklies
There are many treasures which are purely meant for hoarding. These treasures have a Quality value, and it is this Quality value which is counted in the Top 10 Domains chart for Treasure Hoards.
The Quality of these Treasures degrade over time (by 10% per day, rounded up) until they become completely worthless and are removed from your treasury entirely. In order to maintain your position on the Top 10 charts, you must therefore continually find new items for your hoard.
Elemental Dust
Elemental Dust can be used to increase the Quality of any treasure. This increase is a percent of the treasure's current Quality. It is therefore advisable to use Dust on your most valuable treasure. If your treasures at the moment are all low-Quality, save the Dust for later.
The exact percent increase of the Dust is not revealed, however you can expect that, in general, higher-level Vassals find Dusts which have larger percent bonuses.
Scrolls
There are two types of scrolls :P Technique Scrolls, and Experience Scrolls.
Technique Scrolls can be used to teach a Vassal its Technique. This is only good for giving a Vassal the first level of the Technique - a Vassal that already knows the Technique cannot learn anything from the Scroll. Higher-level Vassals tend to find Scrolls with more powerful Techniques, and indeed some such Techniques will not be found on Scrolls except by very high-level Vassals.
Experience Scrolls can be used to give a Vassal some immediate Experience Points. The exact amount a given Experience Scroll awards is not known until the Scroll is used, however, again, in general you can expect Experience Scrolls found by higher-level Vassals to award more Experience Points.
Sources
Sources come in many colors, however these colors are purely decorative.
Sources can be used to give you Mana. Like Experience Scrolls, the exact amount will not be known until it is used, but, as with Dusts and Scrolls, higher-level Vassals tend to find Sources which contain more Mana.
Be aware: a Source cannot give you Mana above your Maximum Mana. It would be foolish to use a Source while full on Mana. Just to make you feel bad, a Source will tell you if any Mana was wasted in this way upon use.
